Ciudad Bolivar
Ciudad Bolivar stands at the narrowest point of the Orinoco river, the spot that gave the city its old name: Angostura. It keeps one of the best-preserved historic quarters in Venezuela and is also one of the gateways to Canaima National Park and Angel Falls.
Our hotel sits on Avenida Bolivar, one of the city's main arteries, which makes it easy to reach both the historic centre and the road out of town.
Near the hotel
Ciudad Bolivar Historic Quarter
The main attraction. Walk its colonial streets and houses, especially around Plaza Bolivar. The historic quarter is one of the city's great draws.
Plaza Bolivar
The heart of the historic quarter. The Cathedral stands here, with several historic buildings close by.
Congress of Angostura House
Well worth it if you are interested in Venezuelan history. The Congress of Angostura was held here in 1819, and the building is directly linked to Simon Bolivar.
Angostura Lookout and Paseo Orinoco
Unmissable at sunset. Views over the Orinoco river, one of the things that makes Ciudad Bolivar special. The Paseo Orinoco ranks among the city's main attractions.
Jesus Soto Museum of Modern Art
Highly recommended even if you are not particularly into art. Jesus Rafael Soto was born in Ciudad Bolivar, and the museum brings together his work alongside other modern artists.
Casa San Isidro
A historic house connected to Simon Bolivar, with an interesting collection and the atmosphere of a colonial estate.
El Zamuro Fort
If you want a good panorama of Ciudad Bolivar, it is worth the climb. A nineteenth-century fortification on high ground.
