City centre or airport? Where to stay in Ciudad Bolívar

Ciudad Bolívar has two hotel zones — the airport avenue and the central Av. Bolívar axis. What each offers and how to choose based on your trip.
Anyone looking for a hotel in Ciudad Bolívar ends up choosing between two zones: the airport avenue and the central axis of Av. Bolívar. There is no single answer; it depends on why you are coming. This is the honest comparison we wish we had found ourselves.
The airport zone
Tomás de Heres Airport sits inside the city itself, and there are well-known hotels facing it — the most cited is Hotel Laja Real, which despite the similar name is not related to us. Staying there makes sense if your plan is to fly in, sleep and fly out without setting foot in the city.
Worth knowing: in Ciudad Bolívar the airport is not far from anything. The centre is a few minutes away by car. Airport proximity, which in a large capital justifies the choice of hotel, matters much less here.
The centre: where the trip actually happens
The historic quarter, the Paseo Orinoco, the Angostura viewpoint, the Jesús Soto Museum, the hospital district and most public offices and businesses sit on the central axis. Business travellers spend their day here; so do tourists. We cover how to make the most of it in 48 hours in Ciudad Bolívar.

Sleeping in the centre does not complicate it: the early-morning transfer takes minutes, and you can leave your vehicle in the hotel car park while you are in Canaima.
