Ciudad Bolívar is an unavoidable stop for any pharmaceutical representative covering southern and eastern Venezuela. It is the capital of Bolívar State, it holds the region's referral hospital network, and it trains doctors, nurses and biomedical analysts.

Why the city is a hub for medical calls
- The Ruiz y Páez University Hospital Complex is the most important referral centre in the city and in Bolívar State. It has operated since 1957 and also serves a teaching function.
- The city is also home to the Hospital del Tórax and the Red Cross Hospital, among other centres.
- The Universidad de Oriente, Bolívar campus, houses the "Dr. Francisco Battistini Casalta" School of Health Sciences, teaching Medicine, Nursing and Biomedical Analysis. It is the leading university reference in the south of the country.

Organise the week by district, not by list order
The most common mistake is building the schedule in the order your CRM lists it. In a city stretched along a river, that means crossing it four times a day.
Group by district, and keep hospital calls for the early hours, before clinics fill up. Afternoons work better for private practices and pharmacies.
One fixed base, not a different hotel each night
