Where to stay in Ciudad Bolívar when you travel for work

What to look for before booking when the trip is work, not leisure: a main-avenue location, a front desk staffed around the clock, food on site, and a room you can actually work in.
Someone travelling to Ciudad Bolívar for work is not looking for the same thing as someone arriving on holiday. A holiday forgives a hotel far from the centre. A Monday-to-Friday schedule of appointments does not.
After years of hosting pharmaceutical representatives, technicians, suppliers and company staff who rotate through eastern Venezuela, we have learned what actually decides whether a work trip goes well.
1. Location matters more than star rating
Ciudad Bolívar stretches along the Orinoco and the distances inside it are real. A hotel on a main avenue saves you twenty minutes on every transfer, and across a week of appointments that adds up to hours.
Hotel Laja City is on Avenida Bolívar at the corner of Avenida Táchira, one of the arteries connecting the centre with the road out towards Ciudad Guayana. From here you can reach the historic quarter, the clinic and consulting-room districts, and the motorway without crossing the whole city.
2. A 24-hour front desk is not a luxury
Flights and coaches into eastern Venezuela do not always arrive during office hours, and plans change. A hotel with someone at the desk at any hour means a midnight arrival does not become a problem.
Our front desk is staffed 24 hours a day, every day. If your flight moves or your route runs long, the room is still there.
3. Sorting out dinner without the hassle
After a day of appointments, getting back into a car to look for dinner is the last thing anyone wants.
We have a cafeteria on the ground floor, room service, and complimentary afternoon coffee. And if you would rather go out, the front desk will tell you what is nearby and what is still open at that hour — which is the information you actually need at nine at night in a city you do not know.
4. A room you can work in
A bedside table is not a desk. If you need to file reports, process orders or take video calls, you need surface, light and a socket within reach.
Our Double Room has a full-length wooden desk with a work chair, and the Quadruple Room — the largest in the hotel — has a separate work station and a double bed. Every room includes air conditioning, a private bathroom, cable television and a direct-dial telephone.
